A Day in the life with our FDM Graduate Recruiter and University Partnerships Recruiter;

Megan studied Social Sciences at Southampton University and graduated a few years ago. She has been working for FDM in the London office for just under a year in the recruitment and university partnerships team. Her favourite part of her job is visiting various university campuses and meeting students (especially going back to Southampton and speaking to prospective candidates). Whilst on campus she spends time helping students prepare for their applications, assessment days, workshops and mock interviews.

Megan is responsible for 12 universities; this involves running and hosting FDM employability events. Within this, Cardiff and Bristol University are a big focus due to our growing number of opportunities in the regions, she regularly visit their Careers Fairs telling graduates about our exciting FDM Graduate Programme and career opportunities in both business and IT consultancy! As a Graduate Recruiter, Megan is responsible for taking graduates through the full application process, from pre-screening them to hopefully offering them a position on the programme.

A day out the office can consist of:

Telling graduates from all different academic backgrounds about the opportunities FDM has to offer. At the stand, there is a wealth of information about the Graduate Programme and the different pathways available to go on. She also tells students about the 200+ clients internationally that FDM has in various industry sectors where consultants can be placed.

Various workshops on campus are carried out to help students build a good CV, on how to structure it properly and make it stand out of the crowd. Video interview workshops help to explain how one should come across during a pre-recorded video interview or live one, including engagement and body language and the various strength-based questions that can be asked.

These are regularly hosted in our academies in London, Leeds and Glasgow, usually on the last Thursday of every month. At FDM, our rapidly expanding client base means we have the opportunity to host lots more pop-up open evenings in a variety of new locations such as Birmingham, Cardiff and Bristol.

During these events, there are talks from FDM employees on the graduate scheme and technology as well as ice-breaker and teambuilding activities where we can check out your communication skills. Consultants, clients and the sales team also attend these events, so it’s a good opportunity for those interested in applying to network and build a good personal brand with some existing FDMers.
