Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Our ethos

At FDM, diversity and inclusion are fundamental to our ethos, fostering equity and driving business success. With 4,000+ employees from over 90 nationalities, we champion diversity in all its forms, including gender,
ethnicity, neurodiversity, and LGBTQIA+. We also strongly support parental and caring responsibilities.

From our origins in Brighton, UK, we now have 19 centres located across Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific and are on the FTSE4Good Index.

We recognise that each employee has a unique identity and celebrate these differences. We are continually striving to create a workplace where our employees feel safe, have the opportunity to thrive and are encouraged to be their true selves.

What we do

Our purpose is to help people forge long-term careers whilst driving diversity, equity and inclusion. FDM’s inclusive careers programmes aim to ensure that everyone begins their professional life on an equal footing.

We are also tackling inequality by partnering with schools in social mobility cold spots, encouraging more young people to pursue a career in tech.

We have furthered our ongoing relationship with
‘The Cornerstone’ network through our involvement with Future Goals’ Enterprise Adviser Programme. This is a network of business volunteers connected to secondary schools and colleges to prepare young people for the world of work.

Our work in numbers

At FDM, we actively pursue gender equality in the workforce and have experienced a consistent rise in women joining our company. 33% of our global employees are female.

We have been a signatory to the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles (“UNWEP”) since 2013 and have a strong tradition of recognising and celebrating the achievements of women in the technology sector.

How we do it

Inclusive hiring

We encourage applications from candidates with non-STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) backgrounds. Our aim is to make a career in tech open to all.

Apprenticeship Programme

The FDM Apprenticeship Programme provides school leavers the opportunity to study for a BSc degree in Digital and Technology Solutions with practical work experience.

Facilitating return to work

Our Returners Programme helps experienced professionals return to work after a career break.

Closing the gender pay gap

Since 2017, we have been publishing our annual gender pay gap report every year. In 2024, we reported a median pay gap of -5.1% and a mean pay gap of -2.5% in favour
of females.

Improving social mobility

We are proud to have ranked 41st in the 2024 Social Mobility Foundation’s Employer Index for the 6th consecutive year. The index recognises the efforts of UK employers to encourage talent from all backgrounds.

Disability inclusion

We ensure fair consideration to the employment of disabled people and provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment stages to ensure equal opportunities for all candidates. We’re recognised as a ‘Level 1 Confident’ member of the Business Disability Forum since 2017.
