FDM Returners Success Stories: Sheetal Boosi

What were you doing before joining FDM?  

Before I took a break to raise my child, I was working as a Business Analyst and I had a total of six years of professional experience in software development projects across different industries and expertise in Agile implementation. After four and a half years of career break, I was looking to return back to the corporate world. I first found out about FDM through a website called Women Returners, after which, a friend of mine who is also a returner, recommended the programme.  

How did you find your time at the FDM Academy?  

The FDM training focused on topics that would help me as a returner to refresh my knowledge and skills before getting back to work. My time in the academy also involved lots of labs and practical experience, the training was comprehensive and has given me a great insight into the latest technology. 
 
Going into the FDM AWS Programme was the best decision for me. The Returners Team were very accommodating and flexible, with special requests considered and amazing support was always offered to us.   

What are some new skills you have learned? 

I have worked on Cloud projects before but on the FDM Programme, I got in-depth insights on the AWS Cloud technology. I find this a great new skill, which will bring value to the organisations I am going to work with.  

How do you think your personal experiences during your career break have shaped who you are today? 

During my career break, I did a lot of certifications to show my competency in the field of Business Analysis. I also took a step forward to develop my love for cooking and turn baking into a profession by pursuing a Diploma in Cake Decoration.  

Looking after my child, learning and launching a small business has all made me more organised, developed my leadership qualities and taught me to overcome challenges. I gained transferable skills that will help me grow professionally and benefit my new role.
