FDM’s London Academy is launching a brand new Returners to Work programme, dubbed the Getting Back to Business Programme. It will commence in June 2016, but some people are still wondering – what exactly is a ‘Returners to Work (RTW) Programme’?

Simply put, a Returners to Work programme is a programme run by a company geared specifically at recruiting those who have been out of the workforce for an extended period of time, for various reasons – hence the name, return to work.

While that may work as a 40 word summary, the truth is it doesn’t even come close to defining what a RTW programme is, or what makes FDM Group’s Getting Back to Business Programme special. Ultimately, any good returners to work programme should do 3 things:

  1. Present appropriate opportunities to people who have been out of work for a number of years
  2. Provide training to the returners who join the programme
  3. Sets up those who join the programme with long term careers, not just temp jobs

Let’s dig a little deeper into these points, and how FDM Group’s Getting Back to Business Programme is the perfect place for women and men hoping to break back into the business environment.

1. Present appropriate opportunities to people who have been out of work for a number of years

Not every job is a fit for everyone, and at FDM we know this. Having matched thousands of Consultants with their ideal client, we know that everyone has their own “perfect fit”. When you join any RTW programme, it should be about finding the career that is best suited to your personality and your life experiences.

The goal of our Getting Back to Business Programme is exactly this – matching returners with a job they will love and in which they will thrive. After all, the people who are best at their jobs are the people who love them the most!

2. Provide training to the returners who join the programme

If you’ve been out of the workforce for a while, you’re going to be rusty when you return. There are going to be skills you need to hone and there are going to be skills and technologies you need to learn completely, as the working environment is ever evolving.

At FDM Group, we set you up to succeed. Before you even begin working on site with one of our clients, FDM will train all of our returners with our award winning, 8-week training regimen. You will learn everything from the latest technologies to the best business practices, and you will get the chance to work on real-world projects in the safety of our training academy. Once your training is finished, you will be ready to take on any job that the client has in store for you.

3. Set up those who join the programme with long term careers, not just temp jobs

As with FDM Group’s Graduate Programme and Ex-Forces Programme, the Getting Back to Business Programme is about finding the perfect career for everyone who comes into training. We are in the business of enabling long term careers, not just temporary job with limited prospects.

When you join the Getting Back to Business Programme and finish the thorough training previously discussed, you’re signing up for a prosperous career. We work with over 160 clients around the world, and the objective of this programme is to match everyone with the company that has their greatest interests in mind. You will find yourself in a role with incredible growth opportunities so that someday you will be managing your own team.
